Congrats to our A and C teams who will be playing this weekend for their conference championships and a spot in the Cape Ann Super Bowl.

In Week 8, the A team came from behind for the second week in a row to secure a first round win in the CAYFL A division playoffs.  In a defensive match-up at Pingree’s field, the Generals got to an early lead in the first half and led 6-0.  Shortly into the second half, Nick Razzaboni (#4) stepped in front of a Generals pass from his cornerback position and raced 50 yards for the tying touchdown.  Unfortunately the PAT was unsuccessful and the defenses for both teams matched intensity down the stretch.  The go-ahead TD by the Generals appeared to put them in front, but an alert play by the Pioneers caused a fumble at the pylon and out of bounds which forced a touchback and Lynnfield ball to take the apparent TD off the scoreboard.  The game went into OT with both teams getting a crack at winning with first and goal from the 10 yard line.  The Pioneer defense led by DT’s Ethan Downey and Trevor O’Neil, with great help from Steve Dreher and Sam Gazit at DEs, held in the first round, putting the A Team in the driver’s seat for the win.  After three unsuccessful offensive plays, Sam Gazit snapped, Charlie Capachietti had a perfect hold, and Kevin Connolly kicked the winning FG from approximately 26 yards for the go ahead score.  The A team will travel to North Reading for the Division Championship next weekend.

The C team won their first ever playoff game by beating rival North Reading Sunday night under the lights at North Reading High School! Jared Bernabie scored both touchdowns and Jesse Dorman added the PAT. Tyler Adamo completed 7 passes and Iain McCarthy had 3 big pass receptions all for first downs. It was a total team win and everyone contributed on offense , defense and special teams.  The Lynnfield C team coaches couldn’t be prouder of this group of players and look forward to the conference championship at Pingree High School on Sunday, November 4th.

The JVC team defense dominated the day not allowing a single point until the last play of the game.  The offensive ground game was effective and complimented the passing game well keeping Marblehead’s defense off balance all day.   After two unsuccessful endeavors the JVC team was able to rebound.  Final score Lynnfield 12 Marblehead 6.

Congratulations to the D team who posted a big 26-0 win against Masco on Sunday.
