The day began bright and early with the D team in Amesbury with an 8:00am start! With 18 new players on the roster, the D squad was ready for their first game of the season.  The D team won 16-6, and with so many new players to the game, the coaches were really proud of the progress they have made in such a short period of time.  The defense made several key stops, and the offense is clicking under first year QB Chase Buoniconti.  The offensive line helped make possible TD runs by Cam Chisholm and James Pasquale to seal the victory for the young Pioneer squad.

The JVC team had a bye on opening week and will be ready to play week 2 against Danvers in Lynnfield.

The C team also traveled to Amesbury with a 9:30 start and played extremely well throughout the game.  Dominating on both sides of the ball, the C team maintained possession of the ball throughout the game and won in a 20-0 contest.  9 different players carried the football during the game as all kids were involved in a great team victory.  Tyler Adamo ran the offense well in his first start at QB and Jared Bernabei contributed multiple scores.

The B team met up with Pentucket on Sunday at 12:30 and ran into a strong team and fell 24-0.  Defensively, Dylan Greenstein has two interceptions to highlight the defense and offensively, this year’s passing attack was highlighted by a long reception between Eddie Kinney and AJ Chiarradonna and indicated some good potential for next week.

The A team played the Amesbury Jets at 12:30 on Saturday and won 28-6 in a strong showing on both sides of the ball.  Newcomer Joenel Aguero scored twice in the first half on long runs before an injury sidelined him in the second half.  TD runs by Kevin Julian powered the Pioneers throughout the rest of the game.  Charlie Capachietti and Kevin Connolly ran the offense at QB with Kevin also contributing 2 kicked XPs and an onside kick expertly recovered by Steve Dreher.  Defensively, Sam Gazit and Ethan Downey combined for many tackles and both were often in the backfield disrupting plays.

The A, C, JVC and D teams will be playing at home on Sunday 9/16 while the B team will be playing at Winthrop.
