The A Team rebounded from a frustrating loss last week to have a decisive win against the Manchester/Essex Hornets on Sunday.  With a final score of 30-6, the Pioneers dominated both sides of the ball throughout the game.  Stellar running from Devin Deluties and some key receptions by newly converted receiver/running back James Sharkey powered the offense and racked up impressive yards.  QB/Kicker Kevin Connolly was 8 for 12 for 132 yards on passes including a 30 yard reception to Nick Razzaboni to set up the team’s final score.  On defense, Trevor O’Neil and Sam Gazit anchored the defensive line and were constantly disrupting plays in the backfield, while DE Dan Dorman and other lineman including Conor Ryan, Brady Mills, Michael Monbleau, Dan West and Ethan Downey contributed to keeping the Hornets off the scoreboard until the very last play of the game.  The A Team will travel to Swampscott next Sunday for a 12pm game.

The B Team also had a great match up this weekend against the Manchester/Essex Hornets. It was this same Hornets team that eliminated the Pioneers from the playoffs last year and ended their season. The game started out rough with Lynnfield down 8-0 on Manchester’s first drive. The Pioneers did not give up and in a single play, Joey Cucciniello ran for a 62 yard TD, with AJ Chiaradonna adding  two points, tying the score at 8-8. The B Team’s offense stayed hot with Joey scoring another TD and AJ scoring two of his own. The team worked the passing game with Eddy Kinney throwing for a TD to AJ and scoring a two point conversion to David Tracy. A large part of the offensive success was owed to the offensive line who created large holes that helped Lynnfield score.  Likewise, the defense made some adjustments and prevented the Hornets from scoring any more TDs, ending the game with a 30-8 victory.  This win brings the B Team record to 3-1.  Next Sunday, the Lynnfield B Team faces Masco in Boxford at 1:30pm.

The C Team lost a tight game with Pentucket 14-8. Lynnfield’s Nick Grousis started the game with a 60 yard kick return and Iain McCarthy punched in the two point conversion. The defense led by Anthony Tammaro, Omar Burgos, Maximus Nastari, John Pascucci, and Michael Murphy held Pentucket to only 6 points. Lynnfield C Team looks to bounce back with a big effort on Saturday against Winthrop at 12:30pm in Winthrop.

The JVC Team played a competitive game but came up short.  The team continues to improve and remains resilient.  The final score was Manchester/Essex 20, Lynnfield 6.  Next week the JVC Team will face the Danvers Falcons at 11am on Sunday at Danvers High School.

The D Team had a bye this week but will be back on the field in Swampscott at 9am on Sunday.
