Good news for the football program as all three playoff-eligible teams secured playoff spots this week!  C team is the #3 seed finishing the regular season with a 3-4 record.  B team is the #4 seed finishing at 5-2, and A team, finishing 4-3 overall is the #3 seed in its division.

Going into Week 7, the A team had to win to get into the playoffs and put together a strong showing against Winthrop at their windswept field on Sunday.  With the cold and wind keeping things to the ground, the Vikings found the end zone first and entered the half with an 8-0 lead.  James Sharkey carried the team on his back with strong runs up the middle to start the second half, eventually getting into the end zone and making the two point conversion to bring the game tied at 8-8.  The next defensive series saw Devin Deluties making a key strip tackle and Kevin Connolly alertly running up the sideline for 41 yards for the go ahead score.  The defense came up strong the rest of the way with key stops by Ethan Downey, Trevor O’Neil, Sam Gazit and Jimmy Marini.  The Pioneers took the win with a 14-8 final score and secured their playoff spot.  The A Team will travel to Hamilton Wenham as the 3 seed in the playoffs next Sunday.

The B Team had a big victory topping Danvers 44-6. The team got touchdowns from Joey Cucciniello (2), AJ Chiaradonna, Jimmy Driscoll, Alex Baldini and Dillon Greenstein and two point conversions from Luke Slaney, Jimmy Driscoll (2) and Dhimitri Dono with a pass from David Tracy. The B team moves to the playoffs facing the top undefeated Ipswitch-Triton in the first round.

The C team won 26-0 in its first night game of the season as they traveled up to Newburyport on Saturday night to play under the lights.  This game was a total team effort and the team continues to get better each week! Jared Bernebi, Jesse Dorman and John Pascucci scored  TDs. This was the C team’s defense 3rd shutout of the season. The C team finished in 3rd place in the CAYFL Kitchen Division and will travel to N Reading next week for a playoff game.

The JVC played shorthanded this weekend and was unsuccessful in its attempt to secure a third win this season.  The team had its hands full playing a good Masconomet team on the road and fell 14-0.

The D Team beat Winthrop 25-6.  Despite strong winds and cold temperatures, they were able to move the ball well and execute on their gam eplan.  The win was highlight by TD runs from James Pasquale and rookie running bakc sensation Drew Cuddy.  The defense was solid as usual, smother the Winthrop offense throughout the game.
