CAYFL Officially Cancels Season

It is with great disappointment that we inform you of the decision made by Cape Ann Youth Football League (CAYFL) to officially cancel this season citing concerns over Covid-19 as well as the financial and logistical challenges a winter season presents for the member towns.

There are 15 towns that make up CAYFL, including Lynnfield.  The decision was made Monday night to cancel the football season altogether, eliminating any possibility of a “floating season” wedged between winter and spring.

We were excited for this season and eager to build on the success of last year which included a Super Bowl victory for our B team and an undefeated D team.  This year’s record registration numbers across all our teams reflected that success.

We are devastated by this recent news to cancel football but have always and will continue to keep the safety of our players and their families our number one priority.

Our hearts go out to all the kids, coaches, volunteers, and families who have given so much to the program, especially to our eighth graders whose LPYFC career has now come to an end.  They are all amazing kids and we wish them all the best in high school.

We will be in touch regarding the return of any registration fees.

Thank you all for your commitment to the LPYFC .  We all have a newfound appreciation for this program and will come back even stronger next season.
